On seeking magic in your life

Hi Wynand here

“On seeking magic in your life”

What a topic, and the reason I want to write about this today is because of a quote I recently heard:

The Magic you seek is in the work you avoid

Simple words, but the weight of them hits hard.

Because what we chase—fitness, business success, deep relationships—it often sits just beyond the edge of our fear, behind the work we dodge.

Words I needed to hear in this season of my life.

The Myth of Magic

We like to think magic appears—almost by accident. A lightning bolt of inspiration. A lucky break. But real magic doesn’t just fall into your lap.

No sir…

It’s built, one small action at a time.

A strong body doesn’t come from imagining workouts—it comes from showing up, day after day. A thriving business isn’t born from wishful thinking—it’s formed in the trenches: budgets, calls, mistakes. And relationships? They’re not flowers and rainbows alone—they demand honesty, messy discussions, repair, and sacrifice.

Where Are You Avoiding?

So the question isn’t just what you want—it’s what you’re avoiding to get it.

  • Want that ripped body? What workout are you skipping, what meal are you ordering, what sleep are you sacrificing?
  • Want your business to grow? What hard talk or budgeting session are you pushing off? Which uncomfortable feedback are you ducking?
  • Want a meaningful relationship? Which conversation are you avoiding because it might hurt? What truth are you tiptoeing around?

Avoidance Is an Invitation

I don’t believe that avoidance is weakness.

It’s a signpost.

It points toward what matters. Because where you resist, that’s where change lives.

If you resist feedback, maybe growth is hiding in that tough conversation. If you dodge early mornings, maybe your breakthrough waits at dawn. If you avoid structure, maybe freedom’s hiding in routine.

The Magic You Create

Magic—real transformation—is not mystical. It’s earned.

It’s in doing the thing you feared and realizing you’re stronger than you thought. It’s in small wins when no one is watching. It’s in the slow grind that reshapes you.

That ripped body, thriving business, deep connection—they don’t come from avoiding the work. They come from leaning in. Day after day.

In Closing

The magic you seek is not out there. It’s right here—behind the things you’ve avoided.

So turn toward them. Embrace the hard. Have the messy conversation. Show up in the dark. Do the next small thing.

Your life will change. And somewhere along the way, you’ll realize—you’re living magic.
