Hey, Wynand here.
And I’ve lost my personal mission.
But before we dive into that, I need to apologize. It’s been a while.
What can I say? Life happened. Or, let me rephrase, life is happening—constantly, unpredictably, and without pause.
I haven’t stuck to my planned blogging goal for 2024. Believe me, I’m having a hard time with it. But then again, maybe it’s also okay to be a little forgiving.
The truth is, I’ve been in limbo for the last couple of months.
If you recall—and yes, I’m talking to the three people who might read this blog—I embarked on a transformational challenge earlier this year.
It went well.
Not perfectly.
But well enough.
And the reason it went well was because I had a mission.
It was clear, and to the point, with a specific goal and a defined start and finish.
That mission ended on the 12th of May, 2024.
And ever since then, I’ve been drifting, dabbling here and there, but ultimately, aimlessly. I’ve picked up some of the weight I lost and have been struggling to rediscover the consistency and habits that kept me going before.
I didn’t completely revert to my old ways.
But still, progress halted. Old, bad habits crept back in—slowly, almost unnoticed at first.
I lost my personal mission.
With no concrete goal and no concrete timeframe, I landed in a kind of no man’s land—lost between intention and action.
My wife was the first to notice. It took me a month or two to realize it myself, all the while convincing myself that I was still on track, still moving forward.
But here’s the thing: No real achievement can be reached without a personal mission. Without that clear, well-defined goal. Without the specific timeframe you set for yourself.
It bothers me—deeply—that my intrinsic motivation, my internal mission, wasn’t enough to keep me going. But that’s a topic for another day, a deeper dive into the why. For now, I’ve joined the second transformational challenge of the year.
And I feel rejuvenated.
Focused.
Ready.
So, this is the lesson for today:
A personal mission is not just important—it’s everything. It’s the foundation upon which your dreams are built, the roadmap that guides your journey. Make it clear. Know exactly what you set out to accomplish, and then commit to it with everything you’ve got. Because without it, you’re just wandering, and wandering gets you nowhere..
